Root [CDMA] Custom splash screen problems.

Finally happy with my current ROM so I want to get a custom splash screen for bootup. I have the splash1.img file but I cant seem to get it to stick.

I am rooted with HTC DEV 1.5 bootloader unlock.

I have tried zipping the file and renaming it to PG86IMG.ZIP and booting into HBOOT and it looks like it is doing something but it is so fast I cannot make it out.

I have also tried booting into TWRP recovery and flashing the zip just like any ROM or kernel. It looks like it works also but no dice.

Lastly I have copied the splash1.img file to the adb directory and booted the phone to bootloader then ran fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img but I get a signature verification error.

I am out of ideas :(

Any help from the pros?

It's looking for particular files. PG86IMG.zip is one of the files it looks for. If your PG86IMG.zip is in the root directory of your SD card, the bootloader rejected it. Make sure you don't compress the zip file at all. It needs to be set to 'store' not 'normal compression'. Or just download some other spash screen zip and open it up, delete their file and add yours. Then put that back on your SD card and retry.

WinRar has been a pita for me and sometimes when I set to 'store', Android just doesn't recognize it.
