Root [CDMA] Do I need to rename the ROM_Name.Zip and Kernel.Zip --> PG86IMG.ZIP ?

Downloaded MIK's ROM + NET's Test5 Kernel

I just need to know two things:

1) Do I need ROM Manager to flash ?

2) Do I need to rename the custom ROM, Kernel, and Radio to PG86IMG ?

Finally, (assuming I can do this without ROM Manager), I just transfer these to the root of the SD Card [ ROM, then Kernel ] boot into the boot-loader and install from Recovery ?

Please post!!

Thanks!!!

Rom manager is NOT required to flash ROMs. It just makes rom management, downloading, and backup easier.

As for remaining ROMs and kernels, again its not necessary. Just boot into recovery, choose "install zip from sd card", navigate to folder containing zip, select zip, select yes(this is for clockworkmod).

Also you don't have to place zips on the root of the sd card. I have a folder called "root" where all my zips stay neatly organized. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but only files being flashed by HBOOT or twrp recovery are required to be on the root of the sd card.

I flashed successfully but can't get Android WiFi tether or Barnacle to work.. sigh..

Oh well, thanks for posting!!

Rome mgr is not ready for the 3d and all recoveries can navigate. But word on street is no ra for us. That is why we have twrp

ROM Manager is actually ready for us. As in, Koush added official CWM support for the Sensation and Evo 3D.

was it working on the stock ROM before you flashed?

Android Wifi Tether wasn't working, but Barnacle did!

I did successfully flash to Viper ROM RC1.2 last night [or early morning today :p] and, along with Netarchy's Test5 Kernel, it's been working great!!

Also, Android WiFi tether and Sprint HotSpot work great!!

The Android WiFi Tether did need the 'Routing Fix' to be checked to work!

I also learned (first time flashing!) that renaming ROMs and Kernels to PG86IMG isn't required. Simply transfer to SD Card [root], boot into recovery and install from ZIP!

awesome for you.

Test5 is working well for you? I have heard both 3 and 5 are buggy. be careful if you set overclock

Thanks! :D

No issues thus far. No FCs or random rebooting, data and phone work fine too.

Not going to OC anytime soon.
