Root [CDMA] Do i really need to update radios or firmware?

Lyvewire

Android Enthusiast
Good Morning,

I been on Clean ROM 2.9.5 since Oct or Nov. I've tried alllll the other roms and this one has been the most stable. No resets or issues at all. I dont do any updates because I don't want to lose root and too lazy for the workarounds.

I've also seen in some threads not all ROMs work on different builds. HOWEVER my issue is when I'm in my house using my AIRRAVE, lately my signal and 3G has been weak. I know there's been a few updates since I've had this phone so I'm wondering if the Airrave has the newer PRL and PRI versions and because my radios are outdated or Build its not giving me good service like it used to get..I'd also like to add I lost 4G on my Evo in the past by flashing a bad radio. Dont want to make that same mistake on 3D

Just trying to troubleshoot before I start flashing all these different things only to find out it doesnt make a difference. I've seen some people saying the radios dont make much of a difference. I'm a "if it aint broke dont fix it kind a guy" but now I dont know..What Build, PRI and PRL are people on now..Any regrets?

MY HBOOT IS 1.40
Baseband 0.97.10.0530
Build 2.08.651.2 CL130920
PRI 1.16_003
PRL 21086

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest you update PRL then Profile before flashing the radios/firmware. The radio/firmware didn't do much, if anything, for me. But for you, it may help. You can always flash the 1.13.651.7 RUU if you want to go back (it will wipe everything out, so make sure to NAND backup before you do any of this).

I changed radios on my old non-android phone and it helped a lot. I actually switched to a older radio, which allowed my phone to roam more easily. Prior to that my phone was hanging on to a weak unusable signal, which means I couldn't get voice or data when at work, just SMSs. After the radio downgrade my phone worked better.
