Root [CDMA] evo 3d in boot

tkmb

Lurker
evo 3d in boot loop.
Basically I have an "unlocked", S-On, hboot 1.50, CDMA evo 3d from sprint that just stays in boot loop. I have downloaded both the viperROM_IC3D_Beta_3 and the MikVirgin-RC3-signed and attempted to install. Somewhere in the process I deleted my nandroid back up, so I can't just go back to the stock sprint rom. I have tried to get back to it through both the RUU and install from zip on SD card. The RUU shooter version goes through the desktop install and fails at the end with error #155. I can't seem to find the right zip for the stock sprint evo rom. The zip files I have tried fail completely at install from sd card.
I can get both the viper and the mik to boot and then loop. Comes all the way to the start up screen for about 3 seconds and then cycles again.

I take the battery out and get back into fastboot where I can flash the recovery I took from one of the blogs, teamwin I think it is. I flash the boot.img from the rom I am trying to install. I put the zip files on a freshly formatted sd card with the su-2.3.6.3 zip.

I go into recovery after that and clear cache and delvcahc. I then install the su zip from sd card and then the viper zip from sd card. It tries to run, but just boots back around until I take the battery out.

It seems so close, but so far away! Any suggestions? Should I forget trying to load the ICS versions of the rom and go with a gingerbread version, if so which one? Learned a lot in the last 48 hours. First time trying to root and I am failing miserably! :)

you are doing fine....the 1.5 S-on is the Bugga boo -
HTC is Causing more problems then they are helping with their "unlock"

You need to flash the kernel via Fastboot

REad this....

I would suggest getting S-off - 2 methods now...
