Root [CDMA] EVO 3D, Rooted But not "rooted"

alright.... so, right now im a little freaked out because To begin with I was just fine with HTC sense, but I wanted the system to run faster etc, etc... so I began rooting I started with this tut Rooting Guide: Perm Root EVO 3D with Revolutionary S-Off Method

And followed it to the letter, but for some reason on the forth Hboot it said it failed... but my phone in Hboot said it had S-off etc, etc, I thought i was just going to have to flash the recovery manually... Fine, so I wen the easy route with the "teamwin" recovery and made a "nandroid" or whatever you call it, but wen I tryed to run a "root only" app as a test it said I was not "root' so at a loss as for what went wrong as I had followed every step I pluged the phone back into the computer for a second go at the "Revolutionary" tool wen I did it told me I had already gotten S-OFF and all there was left to do was install the recovery tool... fine... I did so as I wanted to run CyanogenMod So I thought it might make life easier to have both my recovery and my rom from the same team, but this time i made no "nandroid" as i thought I already had made a backup file on the last recovery....


so here I am, CyanogenMod with no root, but, I do have S-OFF... BUT, No nandroid backup..... So... I guess where I'm going with this is "help" >.>....

Thanks for any help you can give, I did try to look at as many guides As I could find but they all seem to tell you what needs to done but not in fact how to complete the steps givin... So I felt a little lost and ended up Just "wingin it"...
 
If you have CM then you have root, what HBoot version are you, and did you finally flash a recovery?? also check your apps and see if you have the Superuser app in there. Report back
 
Hey Thanks for the speedy reply, I'm Hboot 1.40, I have a recovery flashed, but no nandroid back up is saved as of now, I do have superuser app and it seems work though theres nothing in it... :P Just says "su is up date" wen I start it.
 
OK so you are rooted, now you say you flashed a Rom is that correct, if not and you are still on your stock rom, then you can do a Nandroid now from recovery.

I'm on CM right now, See wen I had Teamwin's recovery I made a back up with the stock rom, but wen I changed to CM's recovery I Thought I had no need to make a new nandroid as the way everyone on here talks about them it sounds like "nandroid" is some kind of a recovery "format" and I Thought it wouldnt matter if my recovery changed that it would still read it, though this doesn't seem to be the case and now I feel a little dim witted :(..

Oh also, I cant seem to log into google on CM, I get some kind of a log in error everytime i try to add an account.
 
Well still keep that Nandroid, as you can always change your recovery back to TWR with no issues, I don't use CM, if you want to try a different ROM, try Cleanrom which is still a sense based Rom, or you can try there senseless ROM which is great. Let me know if you need the links.

As for your Google not signing in, all I could think of is either bad password, or you have no internet connection.

I got google working, I had to install all the google apps before it would login, but Links would be great, I would like to try other roms, CM is nice but... but it's the small things lol like the keyboard isn't very good and the camera doesnt seem to take widescreen pictures and I dont think it'll do 3D :P...
 
Make sure you make a Nandroid before flashing

Thanks don, getting everything setup as i type this, I went with cleanROM, it's just what I wanted, I'm very happy with "sense" GUI but I did want the freedom you get wen you go root. Thanks again.
