Ok, I have been trying to unroot my Evo 3D. So far I haven't had any luck. I tried downloading the PG86IMG file and putting it in the root file of my SD card and using the boot loader, that didn't work. I can't seem to find anything else as far as unrooting an Evo 3D with Hboot 1.5 anyone know what to do?

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well two things need to be done you need to run the ruu and then you need to lock the bootloader. can you explain what happens with the ruu? did you name it correctly? make sure you did not add an extra zip to it as windows hides extensions. and the file needs to be on the root of the card that means not in any folder, just on the card. if you name it correctly and it is on the card and not in a folder then hboot should see it. also what ruu did you use?

He could just not want to be rooted anymore. I've known a number of root users who unroot just because they have no reason to be anymore.

I downloaded the ruu from here
[RUU] RUU_Shooter_Sprint_WWE_1-11-651-2_radio_radio_0-97-00-0518_nv_spcs_1-15_release - xda-developers
and when I run it it says my phone is below 30% battery life please recharge your battery. I tried putting the PG86IMG file I downloaded from HTV Evo hacks in the root of my sd card the bootloader picks up that its there starts loading it but after it loads nothing changes it doesn't actually install it. I read somewhere that method only works with older bootloaders. I tried locking the phone first and then running the ruu and i tried doing it before i locked it. I want to unroot because when the android 4.0 update comes out I want to update. Do I need to unroot to update? and yes when you lock the phone back its always watermarked.

Within days - if not hours - of the official 4.0 release there will be a rooted version available for us to load on our rooted phones. And days later there will be tons of custom roms built from it. If you don't need to be completely stable you can load it up now.

I defintiely wouldn't unroot just for the update.

i have rooted in hboot 1.5 and would like to update and there is no please in this forum that explains how i can update it is mentioned about unrooting which is unclear to me first on whether i need to flash to stock rom and how i do that second what roms i can flash after i am done updating if i can get that far without bricking my phone its working great right now but has htc update starring at me at the top of my phone. no one makes it clear about 1.4 or 1.5 methods or what the heck deodex or odex mean.Thank you any who can help!!!!
