Root [CDMA] How can one roll back to a previous Android OS? (requires root)

Ok, so my friend at work has the evo 3d and he says he hates his phone after the ics update. Is there any way he can restore his phone to the old android version? I'm pretty sure this can not be done.. But I figured I would ask. He is unrooted.

Ok thanks Don that's exactly what I thought. He is not interested in rooting an insists the phone is slow, when he unlocks the phone for some reason the browser is open(even though he did not have the browser open. Amongst other issues.
 
Well he can always do a Factory reset, and see if that resolves all the issues, he should not be having issues with ICS.

Hi guy I'm new to this forum and well I got.news for ya.... Yes there are many problems with ics update, they seem to all he related to typing. This is my 2nd EVO 3D and well the issues have made me reconsider if I bought the right type of phone and had to swallow my pride and beg for an upgrade!

The issues are identical from what I saw to a T!

Typing on the web? Not so fast because the spell check boxes pop up sometimes.
Need to erase? Not so fast because the cursor will erase the letters and they will pop up on the backside of it as you are erasing. Sometimes an invisible cursor is erasing elsewhere on the page simultaneously.e
Need to pull the keyboard down? Not so fast it will leave a black space the size of the keyboard in its place after it disappears.
Need to type really fast? Not so fast it seems like there is something running in the background slowing typing down to hardly a crawl.
Just watching the screen was interesting becase I could swear I saw the browser close its self!
Need ya phone in a flash? Not so fast I could swear I saw the phone crash several time?
I'm lucky I haven't went postal on anybody! Sprint understood and worked deal for me so by so I could get a new phone!!!
 
install a different keyboard app.

LOADS of free ones on the market.

I find "ICS Keyboard free" to be WAAAYYYY better than the truly awfuly horrible buggy piece of crap HTC included as the default keyboard.

im on a EVO V (evo 3d for virgin mobile, with ICS.) and the keyboard it comes with is total shit. but i totally fixed that by installing another from the market and setting it as default.

as far as everything else goes the phone is stupidly fast and smooth and I have no bugs or problems on ics.

I tried that and it didn't work. I even switched to the swipe side of the keyboard now that seem to help a tad bit but it would put periods in when I didn't want it to.
I tried changing the speed of it too in the settings section.
Did the full reset of the phone nothing helped.
I wish I knew someone who could root this thing and produce absolutely no errors I have my own laptop and travel in quite a few places in the US.
I just want to switch back to the original version that came with the phone and keep my cool 3D camera.

Just found another bug I thought was in my head. Seems the browser switches back to mobile mode on its own! I then need to check the little box again to keep Tue websites in desktop mode.
Seems you got lucky I and many others got the shaft.
I took your advice and I am typing on gingerbread keyboard and that seems to help for now in landscape mode except when I erase. Still erases elsewhere on the page.
 
Try a different browser, like Opera, Chrome, Dolphin, see if one of those work for you.

Ok had to post here to respond but this is copy of what I did at another site that I could really see the symptoms of the problem more than at this site or on Yahoo's site.
For some reason I was in able to come in where I left off using my history?

Ok boys and girls I found a workaround that works for the most part. I still see the erase errors and spell check errors the little boxes don't appear many times and ya will need to pull down the page a bit to make them appear.
Installed ICS browser and gingerbread keyboard make them both default apps and you will be much better off than stock not perfect but still yet better than stock.
No blackouts at the bottom of the screen when I make the keyboard disappear, no crawl typing still struggling with eraseing on other parts of the page when I wanna erase on another section instead and spell check boxes still a tad bit of a hassle.
 
One last question can I log into google market with 2 different accounts so I can buy stuff? Seems my regular account is locked since I tried to buy something a while back and I think I need to switch between the two till I get it unlocked.
I need to create a 2nd account to buy stuff and keep my old account for my huge amount of apps that I bought in the past. Thanks!
