Root [CDMA] ICS OTA w/ root question

Sorry for the dumb question, but if I have the HTCdev bootloader on my 3VO...will that affect my phone getting the OTA for ICS when it is released? Im kinda new to this and still learning about how phones get bricked. Thanks!

I'm pretty positive I have the stock rom on there. I tried at first to load an ICS firmware that I found through drippler, but it didnt seem to work so I used the recovery backup I made to restore everything. Looks like the original version to me!

Well if you made a Nandroid backup, then you did root your phone, did you buy your phone new, did you physically root it yourself, if not then there is no way you would be able to flash a new ROM. So if that is the case them yes, when to ICS update comes out the your phone will get, but it will most likely tell you have an update and ask if you want to update to the latest firmware.

Ohh, okay! Yea I definitely dont have the SU app...never went that far. To be honest, all I ever wanted was to try out ICS...and I figured I would give that firmware update a try since it sounded like the easiest way to try it out. I would be happy with the OTA ICS update and wouldnt mind losing root access for now.

I plan on keeping my 3VO when I get my new phone here in a month (EVO 4G LTE OR the Samsung S3)...then I want to mess around with rooting when I have the luxury of messing up on the 3VO...lol!
