Root [CDMA] Issues with Cyanogen Mod 7

Okay, I rooted with Revolutionary and used ROM Manager to flash MIUI with no problems. I decided I did not care for it much and decided to give the latest Cyanongen Mod 7 a shot.

The ROM flashed fine except for not installing the Google pack.

I can not flash anything now, my phone starts to boot, gives a quick vibration and then remains frozen on the white HTC screen. A quick battery re-seat allows the phone to boot into Cyanogen.

I downloaded the Market apk and installed it fine, however when I run it and try to apply my google account, it just goes back to the screen I was on.

Phone calls and texts work fine, but I can not install any apps or recover into my back-up.

Any ideas on how to get back to my stock ROM?

Hmm if you're in cm7 then you should just be able to hold the power button and hit "reboot" -> "reboot into recovery"

then you can just wipe to factory defaults

You're going to have to access recovery through fastboot, then. Instructions on how are listed in the HBOOT 1.50 rooting method instructions.

Also, when you flashed CM7, did you clear the cache partition and the dalvik cache? That is usually the cause of issues when flashing ROMs. Always clear the cache and dalvik. I do it before and after restoring NANDroids to make sure the backup doesn't flash poorly over something and that when it loads, it loads on a clean slate.

Are you able to get to the bootloader screen by holding volume down and hitting power to turn on the phone?

Have you been able to get into recovery at all?

I have been able to get to the bootloader screen, but like everything else, recovery from there freezes at the white HTC boot screen.

if he did the htc unlock, pg86img is out of the question, you need to fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

I didn't know that about the htc unlock method but he did say he used revolutionary in the first post. I had to look back to make sure we were still talking to the same person...

On this point, did you download the market apk or the gapps pack? If it was just the market it likely won't work, you'll need the gapps zip that contains the whole google package. You can get it from ROM Manager or CMs website directly.

Thank you guys, I'm back in MIUI, which I know is more stable.. The pg86img trick worked with TWRP.

*edit* Heh.. Same thing trying to restore my recovery image in MIUI...

And now I'm getting a constant force close window of "process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again".

Ugh. Off to Google I go.

2nd edit. Turned off synching and cleared the data from the media service app. Reboot and it was fixed, which allowed me to get into the Google Marketplace and make my updates and..

Fixed and back to stock ROM.. Thank you once again for your help.
