Root [CDMA] MeanROM showing a blue spinning android constantly.

arid

Lurker
I'm assuming this is the boot screen, but I'm not quite sure. I'm new to the whole root thing (as in just today), and the first ROM I loaded was Cyanogenmod, but it seemed to be missing some features. So I went back to recovery, did a complete wipe, and flashed the MeanROM version that looks like it just came out a couple hours ago. During the install it looked to have frozen up, but I just left it to install and walked over to where I had a meeting for a half hour in hopes that it would eventually work. I just got home and it has definitely been doing something, as it now shows a blue spinning android and some words flashing at the top (Wifi....Activated, etc.). It won't stop, and none of the buttons seem to do anything. What should I do?

Did you have the latest firmware on your phone, I believe that Rom needs firmware 2.17.651.5

Before you Install, prepare:
1. THIS ROM DOES NOT REQUIRE THE LEAKED VIRGIN MOBILE FIRMWARE!
2. I would suggest NOT using the VM firmware: see this THREAD for an explanation.
3. Latest Sprint (2.17) firmware should work fine: don't use older than 2.17.
4. If you have any trouble at all, do a SUPER WIPE and then install the above firmware and this ROM
5. Go to "Menu", "Settings", "Power" and UNcheck "Fast Boot". When you reboot or power off the phone, you really want it to reboot/power-off. This can save you a lot of headaches.

I've been having the same issue, I'm running Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_odex, did the super wipe I've made it to ky lock screen after installing the mean ROM but then crashes and reboots will not load past my lock screen just keeps rebooting... I'm using 4ext recovery....

Which version of MR are you both on, 4.3 or the latest ICS

Would you know were I could find a copy to try...
Nevermind I am running the latest at the moment...
Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_odex....

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean you're on the latest firmware. If you can boot android with that version of software, then yes. And you can confirm it by checking your baseband in Settings > About Phone. The baseband should end with 1216. If you can't boot, the HBOOT will list it as the radio number

Thanks for your help... I've flashed other roms fine, but for sone reason this one will make it all the way to my home screen / lock screen, it updated all my user apps and contacts, then just reboots over n over again evertime it makes it to the home/lock screen... Ugh... Any other Rome you recomend... Thanks again for your time...

Just to make sure you are using the stock kernel that comes with this rom :questionmark:

Try re-downloading the ROM, again. If an MD5 line is given, use a MD5 checksum program (or app on Android) to compare the checksum posted by the dev and the checksum generated by the app. If they match, the download is good.

Also, make sure to use fastboot to install the ROM. Even with 4EXT, some people have difficulty installing ICS ROMs without using fastboot.

Also you may need Chads firmware fix, too, it is hit or miss for some

Some unlocked HBOOT 1.5 phones go into continuous boot loops with ICS Roms, mine was one that did not work with the stock kernel. I could run ICS ROMs if I flashed Chad's ICS Test kernel. Chad's test kernel has a few known issues (USB drive to PC not working, video not working, 3D for camera/video not working). I use 4EXT recovery to get around the USB drive issue.

Yep report back and keep us posted, we will figure it out

Ok sorry for the delay, I don't have internet at home i use my phone for everything including my internet connection... Anyways I booted the phone into fastboot and tried to install the new ics mean rim from there with no luck, now weather or not I was using the right commands I don't know, the only way I was able ti get it to read or even try to install the zip file it would fail... Once again I don't even know if I was using the right commands... I was going to downgrade to hboot 1.4 but I noticed I need internet to finish the process and get s off and hboot 1.4.. so i guess I'm stuck with what I got... Just for a nebies sake I do know my way around a comp, and a lil of cpromt. Is there a list of specific commands for the phone ? Just curious... Thanks for everyones help.. hope there becomes s better way... Also will it even help me if I was to use any of the methods to obtain s off, or does that even matter....

So how would you use mean rom, would you place just the zip file in the c sdk tools folder on your comp. Or change it ti something else.
