Root [CDMA] New 3d Versus Used

Hey guys,

I am getting a 3d from a friend that works at a Sprint store.
They want to my buy a used one that was used for 2 days, & I have no way of knowing the what Hboot version is. Do I have a better chance of getting a phone with the Hboot below version 1.5 if I buy a new one?

Long story, but basically I need to buy the phone unseen because its coming from a different store. Or wait until the new phones come in stock.
The store is about 2 hours from my house, so I am trying to get this done in one trip...

It is a tough call to make, a used one could have an older HBoot if the store has not updated it, and same goes for the new ones, so it is hard to say, if you decide to go to the store, then you can check the used one and see if it is most likely with an older HBoot, if you check in the settings/about phone and see if it has Android 2.3.4 it most likely has the newer HBoot

I tried explaining what I was looking for & he didn't understand.

Just trying to save a 4 hour total trip.

K, tell him to do this, press the button next to the home button, menu/settings/about phone/software information and ask him to tell you what Android version says, now just look at my Android version, as my phone is rooted, so don't pay attention to the other stuff, see below
