PRL's and Profile updates are fine, but do not take any OTA, as that can cause you to loose Root.
Just as a note and this is just me, I prefer doing wipes and installs from Recovery, and not from within the app, many have issues when using apps to do these, not saying you will, but usually avoiding using the apps process for this avoids issues. I can't say much for 4EXT, but I know many had issues when using the CWM recovery App. JMO and my 2 cents.

So far by using the app for 4ext hasn't been an issue for me. I do understand your point as well. He may have been in recovery I just wanted to show him/ her an eazier way to go about the process of 4ext. But you can do the same from recovery just have to get familiar with the whole frame work of 4ext before hand imo. I hope it worked for him/ her. I tried to make it as simple as possible...lol...oh and I always though that messing with ota and prls was bad but I see that only ota is a no no. Thank you for clearing that up for me... I'm still a noob... Lol

so today i will try the s-off trick will report back later once again thanks alot guys for the responds.
It is most likely BC you are on HBoot 1.5, in 4EXT, did you make sure that you check marked that you are S-ON, if not you need to do that, if not, then your phone is one that does not like ICS, in the meantime you can try Zred GT, that is also another good Rom, may want to give that a shot, until Sprint comes out with their official port. Or as you mention, you can try the Juniper method and get S-OFF, but be patient, timing is everything on that procedure, so don't get frustrated.
If you can download msl from market. That will give you the spc code your looking for. Try ##3282# it should open epst on the phone that holds info about the phone.
Update: okay... so, entering epst gives you the meid (hex) and Meid (dec) ESN (hex). if you can download MSL from the matket that will give you the spc code in order to enter epst. I hope I'm correct but DonB may know better then I or someone else for that matter. if not take it back to the person who flashed the phone for you... they should be able to take care of the issue.
