Root [CDMA] Not able to flash custom kernels

Apollion

Newbie
Its been a while sense I've. Been on the forums (to much work). But I need some help. I haven't been able to flash a custom kernel with any of the new Roms. Every kernel I've tried always bootloops. I'm on hboot 1.50 (not my choice, it came with the phone) and am currently running infected eternity. Newest version of 3.0. Even tiamat doesn't work which is really strange. At this point I'm not the noob I was a couple of months ago because I nearly bricked my phone and literally resuscitated back to life but this is really beyond me and I am out of ideas I've tried loading kernels from my flash GUI through fastboot aswell. Recovery is 2.0 but I don't think that is the problem. Anyway any help will be appreciated.

Ok, when you flash through fastboot, do you clear cache and dalvik before flashing the kernel?

Also, if the ROM you're using is built off the newest OTA, older kernels will not work. Currently, only the stock kernel works for the newest OTA build because HTC has not yet released the source for the kernel.

I didn't realize all the new roms were using the new ota. And you don't mean ics do you?
And i always do dalvic and cache wipe before flashing.

No, ICS isn't out, yet. But the latest OTA updates firmware and kernel RAM disks, so older kernels do not work on ROMs based off of it.

But looks like Infected Eternity requires you to do some special installation to get the kernels to flash properly:

Ok thanks a ton for the info. I'll keep an I out for updated kernels. I wish I knew how to program though so I could help.

They're waiting on a source code, so it's not something that will take long once the devs have it.
