Root [CDMA] [Q] Flashing a new ROM

Hi,

I read somewhere that if you are flashing a ROM that is a newer version (e.g., from ICS to JB) that you do not need to do a complete wipe. Since I am flashed from Sprint to VM, this would help me a lot because whenever I do a complete wipe, it removes all of the VM settings and switches it back to Sprint. Is this true?

Unfortunately whoever told you this is completely wrong, no matter what OS your upgrading to or downgrading to, a complete wipe is always a must.

The only time a wipe isn't needed is of your upgrading a rom to a new version, example: If your on PACman v19.0 and flashing v19.1, a full wipe there isn't needed but very recommended.
