Root [CDMA] Ready to root

I just got finished with full root. Got my recovery and SU up and running. Time to once again get familiar with all my favorite root-only apps :)

Can someone direct me to the app that allows me to flash ROMs and kernels directly from the phone? I can't stand being tied to this cord the whole time.

Nevermind. I found the app. One question though... From what I've gathered just by reading about FlashImageGUI, am I supposed to use FIGUI to flash my ROM w/ kernel and then flash it myself in recovery? Basically doing it twice.

There are many ROM's out there depends on your preference, I would hold off on the MIUI ROM as the support has dropped, and you do not get 4G with it. When ready let us know what you want in a ROM and we will try to guide you.

I'm looking at MeanROM. I understand that I can't just flash a new ROM since I'm on 1.5. So how do I install ROMs now through recovery using Flash Image GUI? I just bought it from the market.

first you want to flash the kernal img from FIGUI. so all you do here is open up the app and browse to the rom zip you down loaded and it will take you through the process for you and install the kernal.

then you want to reboot into recovery and flash the rom.zip file from there.
make sure you wipe cache-dalvik-data before flashing.

after that reboot your phone and you should be good to go

So Flash Image GUI will automatically find the kernel in the zip? I don't have to pick it out the zip myself? Also, if I choose a Sense ROM, should I do a full wipe coming from stock Sense or just cache and dalvik cache?

Using TWR, what are the benefits of using the bottom four options in the nandroid menu? Also, how much space does stock Sense nandroid backup take?

Can't help you with TWRP, don't use it, but I believe the stock sense backup should be around 1GB roughly

I use CWM, but that is just me, I am use to it and have had no issues with it, so if it ain't broke don't fix it. Many love TWRP and no reason to change if you have that on now, they are both good, it is which ever you prefer.

Which recovery are you using? Should I switch to CWM?

I use TWRP. Here's what I do for making a backup:

Clear cache and dalvik cache. Then in backup, I check:

Data
System
Boot
Wimax

Everything else is useless to backup, IMO.

So I'm ready to try Mean Rom. Just so I know I'm doing everything in the correct order and not going to come out the other end with a paper weight... First, I'm going to use Flash Image GUI to flash the Rom's kernel, then go into recovery and nandroid, full wipe, then flash the Rom itself. Is that correct?

Also, I read somewhere that there is a tool that automatically performs a full wipe for you. Can anyone speak on that?

I think it is called Superwipe

HELP! Phone hangs on "HTC Quietly Brilliant" screen after nandroid restore. I did a backup earlier and flashed to MIUI just to check it out. I used Flash Image GUI first, then flashed the ROM from recovery (TWRP). Everything was fine. I played with MIUI for about 20 minutes, then decided to restore my stock nandroid. I've tried several times and everything seems fine until it hits the above mentioned part of the boot and then just hangs. It's sat as long as 15 minutes. I understand that this can happen during a flash, but not a restore. I think the nandroid might be corrupted.

Any ideas on how to at least get my phone back to working condition. I have the MIUI and MeanROM ROMs on the root of my sd. How do I go about flashing them from Hboot?

Was this the same issue that was answered in the thread you created?
