Root [CDMA] ROM help... Did I break something?!

Before I do this, I am on CWM version 5.0.1.0...does that make a difference in what I rename it!!! BTW, I am not really sure I am following you on what to do here but I will read it about 7349 more times and maybe it will sink in...haha. Seriously, each time I read what you are saying I think I am starting to get it....but we will see...

Okay, here is what I did. I basically deleted everything in the download recovery folder and replaced it with the TWRP image file but renamed it to exactly to the shooter.img name and then put it into that same folder and then flashed via ROM manager. And it didn't work. It flashed something because it gave me that status bar and it was downloading something. But I still can't get into recovery. If what I did was wrong, please explain and tell me why you are doing it. I am not very good at following instructions....haha....but if you tell me why we are doing what we are doing then I can figure it out.

The way you made it sound is that we would put both .img files of the same name(Although different contents) into the clockwork folder. I could not do that because my computer will not allow me to create 2 files of the same name so it names it blah blah blah blah(2).img. I am thinking the (2) would throw it off???? So that is why I took everything out of that folder so I could name it exactly without the (2)....make sense???

The reason why I made you do what I did, was an easier way for you to try to flash the TWRP recovery, that is it, but it didn't work and it sounds like you did it correct, as long and you took the TWRP img file and renamed it to the IMG file that was in your CWM download/recovery folder, then it should of worked, sounds like you have another issue, the only thing I would say is to start from the beginning again, and see what happens, meaning your root process. unless Scott has another suggestion. you may have to detail to us exactly how you first rooted and tell us what you did after, and when you started having issues and what you did when you started having issues.

I am assuming that you are having issues with your recovery by the way, as that is what you had mentioned, maybe once you tell us how you rooted, then we will be able to distinguish your issues, I will re post the process to flash the TWRP recovery again, incase you missed something.

Flash recovery using: RomManager

DownloadTWRP Recovery IMG and save on your desktop

On your SD card, go to: /clockworkmod/download/download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/the file that is there make a copy and keep on your desktop, then delete from here.

Rename the TWRP img on your desktop to the same name you had in the recovery folder that you made a copy and put on your desktop

Open RomManager and press Flash ClockworkMod Recovery and reboot the phone to recovery, you should be in recovery

I rooted via the HTCdev.com method. I said that up above. I do think it is my fault why the command prompt did not work....I got the "Access denied" message.

Well I'll be a suck egg mule!!! I got it. And it was almost by accident. After my meanderings in ROM Manager under Donb's method, when I flashed recovery in ROM Manager I think it flashed the current recovery(5010) and not the file I had put in there. At THAT time, there were no other archived recoveries in the Archived folder. Well I went into ROM Manager this morning and it said my current recovery was 5010. So I went to the archived folder and there was 4015....which was my renamed TWRP image. I flashed it and now I have TWRP recovery installed. It take be a bit to get used to but I finally have a recovery now.

Thanks to everybody for the help. I do have issues with command prompt. I honestly think that Vista causes problems because now that I think about it, I was not successful with it while rooting and when I went to my XP machine, I got it to go through. Anyway, thanks again. Now I gotta clean things up and flash a new ROM!!!

Yes you did mention, but I wanted to know your steps to see if you missed anything, good to know that my method eventually work, it is a simple little trick and makes it easy for those having issues accessing adb.
