Root [CDMA] [Root Question] Is there a way to make it read V5 SIM CARDS?

Just received this phone, but it turns out that it doesnt read v5 sim cards which was the one i was using since my Iphone 4 has a v5 micro sim, so i tried inserting, removing, etc and no luck, the phone is unlocked but wanted to know if there was a way to make it read v5 cards since it says on the htc website that the phone wont read anything else besides v3 cards.

Anyone knows if i root it and install a custom rom , maybe i can make it read v5 cards?

thanks

I would ask your carrier if that is an option. It might just be a conversion that they have to do with your SIM card.

Let me try that, its a pain in the ass to go to my carriers customer service (telcel from mexico), but i dont have many choices.

No luck, they stopped using v3 cards now they only carry v5 cards on my carrier, only choice would be to install a custom rom that could modify this?

Anyone knows if this is possible?

Also im noticing im using a very old version, 1. something and this is a rogers phone , so i wont let me update, im trying to root it and install a custom rom to see what i can come up with

made it work! it turned out that you need to notify your carrier about the new phone so somehow the sim card can be enabled.

So if anyone had any problem like this one, the phone can read any type of sim card.
