Root [CDMA] [rooted] 802.1x and trusting certificates

Hi Everyone,

I am having trouble getting my phone to authenticate with our 802.1x setup. The instructions below are for an iPhone/iPad but as i have an Android phone the process is not exactly the same:

1. Create a Computer account in AD ensuring it meets the requirements above.
2. Create a certificate request either manually using the windows wizard from the local machine certificate store (not documented) via or using the powershell scripts below (documented).
3. Issue certificate for the non-windows device.
4. Complete certificate request
5. Write the certificate binary to the userCertificate property of the devices AD computer account.
6. If this machine is also the one that has the Apple IPAD/IPHONE configuration utility skip steps 7-8.
7. Export the certificate from the requesting machines local certificate store

is this for a business infrastructure or is it for home use?

did you just purchase this handset and this is your first time setting up wifi?

are you just trying to use a different flavor of 802.11?

Nope had it for almost a year now. Pretty familiar with Android.

No im using 802.1x TLS

Since you are rooted, you have opened up another can of worms. so lets take this discussion here.

please post up your ROM in use as this will help.

If this is a ROM you did not cook yourself, have you been in touch with the dev to see if there is something they can add to this discussion?

I am running the stock HTC ROM with root access:
Version: 2.3.4
Software NO: 1.28.980.5

Its looking like a limitation of the Android System (At least the stock ROM anyway)

Start with creating a Nandroid and try flashing a custom Rom and see what happens, report back

Seems to be more an IT issue, hopefully someone with that experience will chime in for you here.

Well im reviving this thread as im looking into this issue again.

My phone is now running CoolICSv12
Android 4.0.3
HTC Sense 3.6

I may look at updating to the latest CoolICS in a week or two. For now has anyone had any success in getting an android device connected to 802.1x where you need to trust multiple CA's?
