Hi All,

Does anyone know how to use a ICS rooted phone as a modem on Linux? I am yet to find any solution and would like this option. Appreciate any help

P.S. I am also not able to even mount the phone since they left their old method of mounting....royal pain in the...to transfer stuff

I'm not sure if this will help you but it's what I've found so far, an app called "easy tether"

It's a lite version and a paid version.

But if it works its better than nothing. I'll edit if I find something better.

Edit: If your going to tether via usb, "klink" is a better recommendation. I've been using it for my xp maybe 2 months. Descrip says it works for ubuntu and ics.

Paid versions:

Easy Tether $9.99

Klink $4.99

Thus far have tried Barnacle, Wifi Tether and PDaNet on the following distros

Fedora
Ubuntu
Xbunto
Crunchy
Mac Pup
Lubuntu

No luck whatsoever.
Drives me Crazy that 2 linux based items can't figure this out....

Yeah looks like I"m downgrading and leaving ICS. Their decision to ditch their connection method was premature, they should have first provided a method for it to work in Linux since they take so freely from Linux. Disappointing that the Android devs made this decision, at this point, I'd be better off with an iPhone (at least it can connect!).....clearly I'm not going to go out and buy an Apple product but none the less, this is disheartening for Linux enthusiasts who were proud to say that the most popular phone OS was based off of our stuff (Gentoo).....sucks

Use wifi tether
Change profile to generic ICS,
Enable mss clamping and routing fix.
You should be all good to go.

(need root access)

Tested with Ubuntu (Kubuntu)
