How to increase media volume , and is it safe after root?

I noticed that one method says somthing about install htc sync and will that have an effect on anthing .

I'm hoping that the volume can be increased either in the kernel or in the rom. I believe the HTC Incredible volume was increased over the stock volume via the kernel but I could be mistaken.

If that is indeed the case, it will just be a matter of time before one of the kernel devs gets it in there and we'll have a bit more volume to work with.
