Root [CDMA] Wireless Tether not working?

I just temp rooted my phone using the method found here:

(TOOL) Perma-Temp Root with *R/W* & Stable! - xda-developers

Titanium Backup Pro and Root Explorer work fine, but I can't get any wireless tether apps to work. Tried Wireless Tether and Barnacle, neither work. Wireless Tether will broadcast a WiFi network but I can't get anything to connect to it. Barnacle doesn't seem to do anything.

Thanks for the help everyone. :)

Wireless tether does not have support for current stock kernel. Barnacle should work

Thanks for the information.

Barnacle gives me the following errors in the log:

"WIFI: Failed to ping supplicant
NAT: restart: Network is down
Stopped unexpectedly!"

Any ideas?

open the barnacle settings. Where it says "Skip wpa_supplicant" check that box and retry

As stated Barnacle works, but why would you not want to use Titanium to back up your apps and settings so when root comes you can restore?

I'm a lost case lol, i still don't know how to use titanium back, I bought had it for my hero, but i never really used because the options puzzled me all the time >.< and if bernacle works , then i do want to root my phone! xD

I have my phone rooted and wireless tether doesnt work and barnacle gives me an error "DHCP: Could not bind to DHCP port: Address already in use?? any ideas thanks in advance

I know this isn't much help to you jekyll, but just to update the thread, I did successfully get Barnacle working with my laptop. I occasionally get a NAT error, but even when I do it still works now.

So, I gave Barnacle a shot. I get DHCP errors.

DHCP: send failed: Operation not permitted.
DHCP: exited: Operation not permitted.
NAT: restart: Operation not permitted.

And I did give it SU access.

Edit: I was an idiot and forgot to give it permissions to access the internet in Droid Wall. Sometimes, DroidWall works too well :P

Bah, you got me excited, but it works the same way as the 3.0 experimental version that was floating around a few days ago. 3G only works to get to Google sites for me, but I can get anywhere on 4G.

Maybe it'll work for someone else, but the problem still persists for me.

Are you using a rom? if so the sprint hotspot works for 3G.

Same here.

Is the tethering a separate app or does it use the phone/Sprints built in hot spot function?

Viper can use both. They unlocked Sprint's hotspot and included Wifi Tether. But Sprint's hotspot seems to be limited to 3G. Barnacle and Wifi Tether can use 4G.
