Root CDMA Workshop

ironmask

Android Enthusiast
Hi,

Does anyone know where I can actually learn how to use the CDMA workshop to flash different carriers to phones, clear ESNs, etc. I have rooted and flashed custom ROMs to quite a few different Android phones but from time to time I have people ask if I can flash different carriers to their phones and clear ESNs, change PRLs, etc.

I apologize if I used the wrong forum section for this.. but Prevail is where I started and just happens to be where I usually do most of Android phone discussions.

Thanks in Advance.

prls is no sweat..the rest of that im not to sure about..someone more experienced would have to answer..i do know that cdma can really screw your phone up if your not careful..so no matter what you use it for..or whatever you can use it for i would be cautious

Seeing that this is a prl thread has one one else had the problem in which cdma workshop kinda starts up but then says your trial has expired or something if anyone has any solutions please reply I had to go back to the default boost prl and i get terrible signal please help
Thank you in advance

The "workaround" to your trial ending, is to purchase CDMA Workshop.

It's simple . Your trial period is up . Your pretty much done with CDMA unless you buy it or find another version . When it comes to stuff like that , Google can be your best friend . This is the wrong place to be asking about a work around for a paid program . This forum does not allow stuff like that to be posted . :D

Not to be rude, but do you know of any other forums that allow such converserations, google doesn't seem to be much help.

Actually google is a lot of help. So much that sometimes it worries me. The problem is how you're wording your search terms.

EDIT: Sorry. I just realized that I ended that post without actually being helpful.

Try and be creative. When you put a search up do not get cornered into thinking in those terms. Try and pickup the words around you. If you're searching for something specific then try and find what it is called. It'll help you so much along the way. Searching for the right terms helps a lot. Use "quotation marks" around terms that are two separate words, they'll be searched for together. Have you read a guide on how to use google?

Good luck.

Yup. If you're looking for something and it's out there, there's a 95% chance that you can find it using Google.

I've switched several Sprint & Alltel phones to Page Plus / Verizon and none of them are exactly the same process. Best bet is to find a tutorial for whatever phone you happen to be working on at the moment. I've found that with most phones the hardest part is finding drivers that work with Windows 7 64 bit. Once that is out of the way the rest is pretty simple using CDMA Workshop and QPST.

Anyone feel like posting a link to CDMA Workshop in this thread. Probable make a little sense. Plus I need it :)

here you go http://www.*********.com/workshop.html

just download the trial....mine was expired and i just downloaded the trial again and the first time it came up range check failed then i opened it again and it worked as expected.

i actually downloaded it from another site first and got a trojan....FYI.. my several antivirus programs stopped it in it's tracks...

EDIT- i guess that didn't work, try this, use the first link

Interestingly enough, I managed to get CDMA workshop 2.7.0 to read my phone, and to write a different prl... Some have said in previous posts (not necessarily in this thread) that that particular version is useless with the prevail...

To use 2.7.0, instead of trying to send the Samsung password, just type your msl into the spc field and send it... this will unlock your phone, allowing you to both read it, and write different prls. Thought I'd share. And if you're like me, and appreciate step by step... here you go...

1. Open CDMA workshop 2.7.0, and navigate to the "main" tab
2. Select your COM port, and click the "connect" button (Your phone should obviously be in dm mode)
3. Navigate to the "security" tab, and enter your msl in the small spc field - right above the buttons "read" and "spc"
4. Click on the "spc" button, and choose "send" - if you are connected to the correct com port, and your phone is truly in dm mode, this alone should be sufficient to unlock it.
5. Navigate to the "other" tab to change/write a new prl. Simply click on the "write" button, and select your prl files (which you have obviously previously downloaded)

The newest trial version does not require your msl, however when it expires, well, that's it.

The truth to demo's.
If you know all locations of the installed demo, you can remove it.
Just uninstalling will not do you justice.

1.uninstall cdma ws
2.remove any folders of the software in:
Code:
program files ;
program files - common
program files (x86)
program files (x86) - common
program data
users - your user name - app data - local
users - your user name - app data - local low
users - your user name - app data - local roaming

Then search the registry for cdma ws entries and remove them
3. Shut down your computer
4. Power it back up and try reinstalling cdma ws demo

THIS IS NOT FOR INEXPERIENCED USERS, ONLY THOSE THAT UNDERSTAND HOW THE INNER WORKING OF THE O/S. YOU CAN MESS UP YOUR COMPUTER, SO IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
DONT DO IT

I bought cdma 3.8 and was updated to 3.8.5 and let me tell you it was well worth it, I have changed things on 3 phones in 4 mins that would take 4+ hours using other methods.
However one thing that is still a pain, the prevail nv items are tightly locked and certain things are not available. Though I can do more with the new version then you could with 2.7 there is still a limit.

Hi, I would greatly appreicate if anyone can help me out with that.

I just bought a couple of weeks ago the latest version of CDMA workshop for the purpose of flashing old phone models from one carrier to an other carrier.

I tried doing that, but couldn't get a clue on how to use that program.

I am trying to do that for the Motorola V3m, any help would be tremendously appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hmmmm, why didn't you try the trial version out first. Buying CDMA Workshop first was a pretty expensive gamble not knowing if it would work for you or not.

Hey biker.
there should be a tutorial on cdma website

Yep, that would sure come in handy. Last I checked the program was $108.

I've got a buddy of mine that is gonna upgrade his handset. He's running a Evo3D right now and said he would give it to me when he's done with it. Hopefully he'll upgrade soon. I love my Marquee but I would take that Evo3D in a heartbeat! It's a nice phone.

Good 2 see you on here, Opitimus. :D

but I don't really know how to use it, where can I find a good tutorial for it??
