I'm in the same boat.Although at&t bought cricket mobile. Cricket phones are still CDMA and not GSM i highly doubt they will switch them over. This should have been put into the all things root for the GSM (since Cricket is part of AT&T now). This is the atr section for the CDMA 1st gen model.
I guess I could be wrong, but I believe that the Cricket Moto G's are GSM phones. Also I think I read that all new phones being sold are GSM. MetroPCS did the same thing; stopped selling CDMA and started selling GSM. Metro still supports CDMA in some places but not in others.Although at&t bought cricket mobile. Yeah, that's what I thought. They are going GSM like Metro.HTC Desire 510, Moto G, Nokia Lumia 630 are GSM @ Cricket .....personal experience
All cricket phones sold are gsm. They have been for a while now. They use att's network. In fact att has been quick to disable crickets old cdma network and use the spectrum for there own. That was the whole reason they bought cricket. To the op . No the cricket moto g can't be rooted. Att blocked the boot loader from being unlockedAlthough at&t bought cricket mobile. Yea they switched almost the minute after the sale was finalized. They basically merged it with there aio brand. They have decent pricing I think 60 bucks gets you unlimited talk text and 10gb of LTE data and throttled after. The only "catch" is your LTE speeds are capped at 8mbps. They really only bought cricket for the spectrum in urban areas. Att has had congestion issues since the first iPhone and when they had to give away spectrum to t mobile as part of the breakup fee it really put them in a bind.Oh ok. I wasn't aware of the switch. My last phone i had from cricket was cdma last year (htc 1v) if i remember correctly.
It would make sense for them to switch to bring in other customers with their own phones that are gsm.
yeah which sucks TOTALLY i plan moving phone providers in the near future. But do you know if it will be getting the lollipop OTA update at least. All cricket phones sold are gsm. I dunno. The phone itself will get the lollipop update yes. Whether or not att decides to release it and when? That's a whole other issue. Same with the boost and Verizon models. Moto says they will be updated. When the carriers decide to push those updates is completely up to the carrier.yeah which sucks TOTALLY i plan moving phone providers in the near future.
