Hi

I am a new Android user. Have the Samsung Mesmerize Galaxy cell phone.

I am learning a little about getting around within and find lots of new things all the time.

However, i need to receive emails on a regualr basis and as timely as possible. I can't seem to get or keep the right settings to obtain this.

Sometimes they come in ok. Most times I have to turn the phone off and on to receive them throughout the day, traveling in and out of cell ranges, and wi-fi range.

Any help?

I was told it is the nature of the beast but I find that hard to believe in this day and age.

I think you'll find that the stock Android email application is a flaming hot mess.

I recommend downloading K9 mail as an alternative. You can also download a variety of notification apps that will allow you to customize your notifications.

I haven't had issues with receiving email since I made those changes.

Android, in general, is different from Blackberry and iOS in that the user is expected to customize the device to his particular needs. The "stock" settings may work for some, may not for others. The email app just sucks all the way around, however.
