Can you change the keyboard? I have been trying for 2 days, but can't get anything but the stock keyboard to show. Specifically, I want to use one of the keyboards from GoSms.

I had no trouble installing TouchPal keyboard.

I've been using Swiftkey with no problem. Does the GoSms keyboard show up in Settings/Language & Keyboard?

TouchPal works really good too. It's got a Mic button right on keyboard for voice entry and that feature is very accurate. Saves me a load of typing.

I like the stock keyboard it's just like swype

I wish it was just like swype. It doesn't have the long-press to get numbers feature. You have to switch to the numeric keyboard to type a number!

I'm trying SlideIT, which is swype-like, including the long-press numbers. Coolest feature: you can resize the keys larger by long-pressing the tiny arrows on the upper left corner of the keyboard and dragging up.

SlideIT has two modes - which they should warn you about. The control is on the upper right of the keyboard. To get it to stop autocorrecting and just type what you tell it, press the ABC button. To switch back to predictive and autocorrect and sliding you press the SlideIT button next to it.

you can download a beta version of Swype - search for it on the web - I did that, and use it all the time.
Guys - what are the benefits of Swiftkey? I never used it

Swiftkey's got a great prediction engine--it learns your tendencies as you type and -- if you choose to let it -- from your Tweets and Gmail and Facebook posts -- and makes amazingly accurate suggestions as soon as you begin to type. I text a lot with my kids, and often I don't have to type more than one or two letters of any word before Swiftkey suggests the complete word. And once it's figured out your patterns, it often suggests the next word you intend to type before you even start it. I used to be a huge Swype fan, but then I found Swiftkey. As far as I'm concerned, it's the fastest and most accurate way to type on a virtual keyboard.

The swype beta is on their official website, so you don't have to pull it from the dark corners of the internet:

Works great on the ZTE Warp.

None of the other keyboards - stock, touchpal, or slideit - worked for me. I think Swype is more forgiving of shaky hands. I can do it with my fat thumb and it still works. And I spend less time selecting from the word choice than I do with the others. Much better software.

God bless 'em for giving it away as a beta. My phone would be unusable without it.

i second swype! I just downloaded it today, it is amazing. It cut about half of all wrong auto completes and works so smooth. Plus i can add email adresses that i normally use to the dictionary for fast auto complete. Im sure this is available on other keyboards, but i think ill be staying with this one for a while :)
Just begs one question, is there any way to delete the pre-installed keyboards? especially the non-swype one ( im a minimalist :) )
