Help change android network name

Hi there,
When I look at my router settings I am always seeing Android_42243234 (the numbers are example) I know this references my Android phone but I would like to change it so it could say something shorter like Android_David or something. I am using Android 2.3.4. I also have the HTC Sensation. Is there any way for me to do that?

Correct me if I'm wrong. What you want to do is edit the name of the connection in your router? If you can see the connection name in your router, can't you just change it, I did in mine, or have I missed the point?
