Change gmail accounts?

Ok, so when I got my Droid, I couldn't remember the password of my gmail that I made 2 years prior and never used. Is there a way to make that one my default app one and delete the one we set up at the store without a factory reset?

In a word, no. As far as I know, a factory reset is your only option.

Note that if you have purchased any apps on the current email, they won't show up if you reset and start with the other email address.

Try this: go to your Gmail app then hit the menu button. From there hit "accounts". At the bottom you can "Add account".
