Help change install directory galaxy mini

hi all
im new to android forums ]
i jst brought a samsung galaxy mini jst checking around , noticed that all the
apps downloaded were installed in the internal memory
jst cause its almost full performance is down
what should i do to change my install directory ..... help please
i did hear about rooting and any side effects
