Change Messaging Application in Default Launcher?

Mo-Jo

Lurker
On my default launcher I have the four default icons - Dialer, Contacts, Messaging, Applications.

I have recently discovered Handcent SMS and I'm wondering if there's any way to simply place Handcent where Messaging is now, leaving the other three and keeping the same launcher?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm...I don't use the stock launcher and haven't played with it enough to know really. What happens when you long press on the icon you wish to change? Does it give you the opportunity to change to something else?

I am pretty sure the only way to change the four default icons on the bottom would be to root the phone. I would first see if u like the new messaging app then think about rooting it.

Discover Launcher Pro and, among a lot of other things, changing those buttons is a snap.

In the app drawer hit the menu button > view type > custom. Then hit menu again and edit. You can then switch out the contacts and messaging icons for whatever you please.
