Help Change "Messaging" button to default to Handcent

Gbones

Newbie
Just downloaded handcent.... i want the "messaging" icon on the home screen to default to handcent and not the default messaging application.

how do i change this?

Thanks

If your on Android 2.2, you can go to your Applications then click Menu, then click Edit, then drag the messaging icon out of the toolbar then move the Handcent icon down there. Will that not work?

Thanks thats good to know! But still, i want it just to default to handcent for 2 reasons:
  1. I cant rename the name of the App so "Handcent SMS" truncates in my home screen.
  2. The "Messaging" application still shows how many unread messages I have. For example... When i select applications the "Messaging" icon will show '10'
Any Help?

Anybody know if this option is available for Galaxy devices with Android 2.1? Trying to find the same options for a T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant running 2.1. When pressing the menu button in Applications on this device it only gives an option for View Type.

Go to Handcent, then to settings, to Receive Message settings and then make sure the box for Auto-Retrieve is checked (also Roaming auto-retrieve if your roaming is free). Then go to the stock app Messaging, go to settings and make sure Auto-Retrieve is "not" checked.
