Root Change nook system identification?

Is there a way to change the way the NC identifies itself to Google Play? I would like to change is that so many apps won't say they are not compatible.

Settings... about tablet.

No reason to not install the free version and make sure you're on 160 dpi (requires a reboot). Market changes take a while to take affect.

You could also go to settings... apps... all and find Google Play Store and "clear data" and "uninstall updates" and see if that helps.

So stock rom, but rooted. You probably are at 160 dpi (unless you DID change it).

Sorry, I'm not much help with the stock rom. (I have no need or desire for stock.)

There is the Amazon app store to install apps too.

That's what I've been using. I'm rooted with CM 7.03-encore.

Then you should install dpi changer I linked to earlier and change your dpi to 160 to improve Market compatibility.

Thanks. I'm using an old version of the market so it works but I still can't download many new apps. I use Amazon App store for some of the newer popular apps

I find a lot of the free stuff I want isn't on Amazon.

You should update to a newer version of CM7, like 7.1 stable or 7.2 Mirage.

If you're not running off your sdcard, and the problem is only Market, you could open Rom Manager, download the latest gApps, create a backup (check the checkbox) when prompted and update that way.

The main fix for Market was the dpi change from 161 to 160, so no need to update if that's your only issue, but there were battery fixes in newer versions of CM7 as well.

On the other hand, if you're going to go to what much work, might as well update your rom too. http://androidforums.com/nookcolor-...dirty-upgrade-your-cm7-using-rom-manager.html

Updating thru Rom Manager only works if you replaced your stock rom with CM7 (not dual booting with a 2nd rom on the sdcard).

It works now. Had to reboot twice and I finally can see many apps now.
