change 'tap' sound

glennn

Newbie
my phone is CyanogenMod modded - i'm wanting to change the sound made when tapping; it's not available in "Sounds", and i found nothing when searching the phone while USB connected for any *.mp3 or *.wav...

can someone tell me how to change this?

look in system/media/audio

well, now that i've found the system audio, even though i have root, the files are read only - i thought that by having root i'd be able to unprotect these files.

how can i do so so that i can replace the file?

also, when i browse my phone from my PC, i cannot see my system files. i thought i was able to once before (on another phone, perhaps...?).

is there something i'm missing?

thanks much for your help.

At the Market, there's an app called Root Browser. It will let you change the properties of the file.

I cannot see the system files from my PC either, also a Samsung phone.

ok, cool, thanks. i forgot to mention, i'm using Astro - does it not do that...?

thanks again

I haven't tried Astro. The settings option that you want might be directly permissions, Root Browser shows it as a specific option. An app called ES File Explorer, on the other hand, has permissions as a sub-menu of properties. Astro might have permissions tucked away like that.

Es file explorer is the best in my opinion it does everything and more. Root access ftp server connection to all wireless devices on a network write to build.prop and ofcourse much more. Astrology is good only for viewing files it seems in my humble opinion.
