Help Change txt notifications

Anyone know how to change the txt notifications to anything other than the stock sounds listed? I have the ringtone changed but if I download a different sound to use then go to change the notification sound it doesn't list anythong other than stock choices.

Have you put the downloaded sound in the folder that contains the other stock choices?

That's what I use and my ringtones/notification sounds even have transferred from phone to phone via my sd card.

I use the GO SMS app and you can change individual ring tones with that. Thats about the only way i know of. OH and I do use zedge as well and they work with that app.
