Root Changed email password now cannot access email on NC email app

My wife had her bellsouth.net address book "stolen" so I went through the process of changing the password - email account, dsl modem and router. She can now access her email from any of our computers online, but on the NC she cannot. I cleared the email app data to reenter her account and new password, but it will not accept the new password. I tried to enter it manually with the bellsouth data:

POP3 pop.att.yahoo.com 995 SSL

but no go also.

What gives?
