Help Changed to sOI Firmware but cannot download apps

Hi all

Actually I had posted in another thread on a 3G dongle problem but there were no replies so am hoping some kind guru can see this and help me out.

I had upgrade to sOI firmware and finally got my tablet working with my 3G dongle (E170), much thanks to Tbod & Dart in that thread

However now whenever I try to download any apps from Market it keeps telling me I have insufficient memory

I checked My Pad & its says I have 3.8GB and 10GB for my internal memory so I really don't know where went wrong. I did quite a lot of reading on other related posts and discovered a few other stating the same problems after upgrading but seems that nobody replied.

Please please am getting desperate as I can't use my Tablet at all to play games (since I can't download any apps) it as much as useless to me.

Any kind gurus out there can help me with some specific instructions on what to do?????

I was getting this as well. but not with all apps, just a couple of certain ones. The Flashplayer Settings app was one. I switched back to 5a because the s0l software loses 2GB on the local partition. But when I did I didn't get the error anymore. I know this probably isn't a solution you wanted but It's what fixed me.

you need to get your 3.8gb below 2gb and i believe theres only tims firmware that will resolve the issue or go back to manufacture firmware, your dongle will work in tims 5a etc just go into 3g telephony in gscript enable it and i believe you know the rest

Hey mates much thanks finally got some kind replies

I tried to update to Tims 5a just now but the tablet just starts normally without updating the firmware from the SD card, am I doing something wrong here???

Well I did some reading around and found that most of this problem can be solved by using SD formatter, will try it out and report the results later for other's benefit

Or format the card under Linux because Linux can format SD Cards with MicroSoft's own file systems when Widnoz can't. How embarrassing...

I remembered somebody ever posted a comment (was it you???) that welcomed another new forumner to this forum with a "Welcome to the infuriating world of tablet ownership" and boy was this statement so right.......

01) I formatted the whole SD card using the SD formatter on the PC.

02) Wanted to copy the Tim 5a files into the SD card but the PC said need to format or else cannot access the SD card, hence I formatted under FAT32.

03) Put it back into the tablet so that it will prepare the SD card with those Android folders (2 of them).

04) Pop it back to my PC and loaded the Tim 5a files (2 of them).

05) Put back into the tablet and start-up and guess what, nothing happened, it simply started up normally tried on/off a few times but all started normally with no attempts to upgrade the firmware.

06) Got really frustrated and tried the 3 buttons factory reset thingy, then pop in the SD card again to try when starting up but again it doesn't works, why why why????????

I am really really frustrated, can somebody help me out here please???

You did put them in the root directory of the SD Card and not a directory? They have to be in the root directory [highest level eg: e:\].

If none of the above suggestions / comments helps all I can suggest is trying another SD Card.

Yup to both questions, actually its the same SD card that I did the earlier sOI firmware update which was successful, now reformatted and tried with Tim 5a, just can't get it to work

Oh well will need to try on another card instead as per your advice, will update it ASAP

It has happened twice now and both time I had to do the factory rest using the buttons. One time I used sdformat the other I just dumped it on a different card after reset. Dart mentioned something in another post that I don't know if it would have any bearing hear or not. You could try throwing a couple of junk files on as well to see if that helps the card be seen.

Much thanks to all the kind gurus here especially Tbod & Rabid1 whom had invested quite a bit of their time to helping with my queries, am very pleased to say that it worked!!!! Popping in another 16GB with the Tim 5a firmware did the trick and now I am able to use the 3G dongle and download apps
