Root Changing Boot animation/sound

If you do not already know, changing to boot sound is very simple. Locate the poweron(dot)wav file and rename it to poweron(dot)wav(dot)bak. Create your own (dot)wav file and just rename it as poweron(dot)wav and transfer file directly into the same folder as the older poweron(dot)wav [now renamed to poweron(dot)wav(dot)bak]

For the boot animations. I did a couple of tests and figured out how to make it work with the (dot)zip files that other android phones use. I did end up causing a terrible boot loop and odin was not able to get my phone back to working conditions. I am going to do further testing but I want someone to help me with odin so that if I find myself back again in that terrible boot loop I can somehow recover my phone.

(dot) = .

I used root explorer to locate the files needed
/system/bin

samsungloop
bootanimiation

/system/media

bootani.qmg
samsungani.qmg

If you remove the samsungloop and rename the bootanimation to samsungloop it will cause a black screen to appear where normally the samsung still picture (right before you get to unlock your phone screen) will stay black. Now you need to take one of those "bootanimation.zip" files and add it into the /system/media folder and after the metro pcs video you will get the video within the .zip file. I bricked my phone when I decided to remove both .qmg files. I successfully was able to rename samsungani.qmg.bak and still have a good boot.

I was searching all over for a way to do this... But sadly.. I already bricked it trying to do something stupid :(

I can remove the metropcs and samsung boot picture and replace with my own animation. I just cannot get the animation to "stop" the phone does not brick anymore, I can here the lock screen load. The animation just does not go away lol.

I hope you figure it out, Ive been searching everywhere trying to figure out how to change my boot animation also but so far nothing. I even tried doing it thru uot but it didnt work

I got one bootanimation zip file to work. Was not my first choice for boot animation but it was THE ONLY ONE that would allow me to reach my lock screen. But with all of these new ROM flashes this is kind of pointless to do anyways lol.

I have an entire thread dedicated to show you how to change the animation....including some zip files that are cwm flashable.....

The change is a script that kills the bootanimation and the bootani and samsungani become useless unless you prefer stock images

Can I change my boot animation to one of those in ROM toolbox? I really want that Dr Who one, but am reluctant to try without asking first. Oh, I forgot to mention I still have the stock ROM. Also, while reading about boot animation everybody keeps mentioning using root explorer, is there any reason you can't use the root browser that is in ROM toolbox?
