Changing Carrier name?

I was wondering if it was possible to change the carrier name on this phone from VM to say anything I want it to say

I don't believe you can, short of changing carrier. Mine says "China Mobile", but I can choose from having it as "China Mobile" or "中国移动". Is there any reason why you want to change it?

yea. i want it to say my name on the status bar. and we can do it on my old phone. Motorola Triumph

In which case you might be able to do it with a custom ROM, if the default Samsung ROM doesn't allow it.

I know non of my Android phones have ever had that feature, and one of them was a Samsung.

Isn't there a line in build.prop that names the carrier? I think it's gsm.operator.alpha=Virgin Mobile. Change that to whatever you want it to say, save and reboot, see what happens.
