Changing home application

Lurker
Hi everyone,
I am a new Desire HD user and while i was browsing the market i found about home launchers applications, i wanted to try them out so i downloaded one and i downloaded home switcher;
my phone btw is factory unlocked unbranded.

my problem is when i use the home switcher to switch to the new launcher once i click on anything it turns back to htc sense,
I tried to remove default for the sense, I tried to force stop all htc applications, I tried to restart the device after i remove defaults and set the new launcher to default,
doesn't matter what I do the sense come back,
I did read about rooting and,

Is there a way to solve this problem without rooting ?
If what do I need to do after i root to make this works ?
Can I use only temp rooting to apply the new home application ?

Thanks for any help provided

Which version are you using? The standard one isn't supported for Froyo -

Home Switcher

There is a Froyo version though -

Home Switcher Froyo.

It does say in the item description it's complicated compared to the original.

You may want to try another Launcher app. You've got ADW, Go Launcher Ex, Launcher Pro, Open Home etc.

I did try both home switcher and home switcher for froyo - both with same effects
the launcher I did download was spb 3D -I will try other launchers but I would love making this one work

so to be clear that I understand : I don't need to root my device to switch home application ?

Ha-ha

I found the problem, after i installed LauncherPro and had no problem with that i used HomeSmack to clear spd 3d settings and viola it works,

then i found what cause this launcher to stop working (apparently it kept crashing with no message even !) , there is a glob widget (you see the earth) and every time i changed one of the locations to my own location it stopped working

Anyway

Thanks allot for the help !
