Help changing message apperance

Just a quicky, is there a way to change the look of the text messaging interface? I've looked through the custom menu's tried the different ones, but always the same dull white menu. My friends galaxy has a nice slick looking message menu, i'm aware that they run different manufacturor systems, but both being android surely there must be some way to change the desire hd's look?

Seeing as it is different on a Galaxy, one would assume that it is skin related. Have you tried a different skin?

The interface (ie stock mess app) is completely different. DHD is running sense and Galaxy is touchwiz. You could get an alternative mess app from market (something like handcent) or root
