Help changing sim card

Spark640

Lurker
I'm keeping my galaxy s5 but changing to a sim only from a different provider. I have contacts, messages, photos backed up to my laptop. Should Ibackup apps as well or will they not be affected by the change?

I agree,
I have an S5 and a Note 4, I can change the SIM back and forth between those two devices and nothing happens to change anything except that the device with the SIM is the only one that is "activated" by the carrier.

The remaining device can still access the WiFi and all the apps perform as they did before.

Just check, in Settings/More.../Mobile networks, that the correct Access Point Name details are there for the new network, and add a new APN entry if required. Sometimes the phone won't pick up the new network automatically, especially if you're moving from a Tier 1 network (EE, O2, Vodafone) to an MVNO such as Virgin, GiffGaff etc.

In my particular case, I was using the Same Exact SIM on the same network carrier, between two phones.

Both of them Samsung, a S5 and a Note 4.

both phones just came up working like they had always been registered to my number...
neither one of them had a hiccup.

The Note 4 was the lastest addition to my clan. I simply made backups of everything including the Nova homescreens....
I made a point of importing all of the apps first, then the text and contacts second.
Then I used Nova prime to restore the homescreens from the extSDcard that I had moved from the S5 over to the Note 4.

Everything worked like a champ.... both phones are clones of each other.
