Help Changing the name on the Galaxy note

Just to clarify, the original post was asking to change the device ID name that is broadcasted to other devices/routers.

Unfortunately, this cannot be changed on any of the Android devices I have/had at my disposal (Note, Note 2, Note 10.1, TF-101). It is likely hard coded and cannot be changed. You can use other devices/routers to change it to something recognizable, but not on the device that is actually broadcasting its device ID.

To change the name in the Galaxy note 2, you just need to go to menu, select ... More, select About Device, and then Device name. You should be able to change the device name there.

I found a way!

I couldn't find the menu option "device name" where others said it was listed. So from the settings page, I searched "device name" and it came right up in a changeable format. I knew it could be changed because mine was my name but spelled incorrectly. In setup, it was autocorrcted from Jenn to Jean.
