Help Changing the "Search" soft touch key

Can I change the action for the "Search" soft touch keythat is on the bottom right corner of the phone?

I'm rooted and would like have it open up either Dolphin Browser HD or maybe Handcent SMS when I push it.

Yes. Long press the search button and a window will pop up for what you want to do. It will only work if you long press it, a short press will still bring up the search function.

Get Tasker. You can change the action of anything on your phone. It does not require root. Its hard to figure out at first but google tasker profiles and you will get an idea of how it works. Its one of my favorite apps. I use it to automate things on my phone to save battery or not wake the wife while i am messing with my phone late at night.

Yes. Long press the search button and a window will pop up for what you want to do. It will only work if you long press it, a short press will still bring up the search function.

It only gives me 3 options:

Handcent SMS Quick Compose
Screen Shot
Voice Search

I installed an app called quick desk. You can set it for the long press and the apps that you use the most will pop up across the bottom. This will work on what ever screen you are on.
