Help Charge only over USB?

I've just got my Samsung Galaxy S2 after moving from my Desire I'm noticing a couple of things missing after Sense. Does any one know of an app that lets you select how you want the phone to behave when connected to a computer. I need to be able to pick "Charge Only" so I can listen to some music and charge the battery at work.

Just press the home button after you connect the USB. You will leave the MTP screen and go to your homescreen. And then you can use the phone, while the phone is charging.

from the homescreen.

Menu > Settings > Wireless and Network > USB Utilities

and follow the instructions.

I'm still trying to find a '1 click' widget as I mount my phone daily.

Doesn't really help because the SD card isn't mounted on the phone so the music player can't read from it..

Not sure what you mean. Why would you unmount the SD card when you connect to the computer? It works fine on mine. After leaving the MTP screen, it works perfectly as normal just with a USB (leash) attached.

I used widgetsoid, and set up one of my shortcut to go to the USB utilities screen in one click. After that still needs to tap the USB icon, etc...

That said, I don't think Stevenosdroid wanted the USB connection. He wanted to use the phone with the USB cable as charging. Once connected to the USB for transfer, you can't use it to play music or do anything like that with the phone as far as I know. Of course since its like a thumbdrive, you could use the computer to play these files instead of the phone.

Going from an HTC to a Samsung myself, I was shocked at the same issue. Here's what's going on;

This phone uses MTP for its file transfer. This means that both the phone and the PC can access the storage at the same time (although doing so with Windows explorer can cause a crash during large transfers). Simply plug the phone in, go to "My Compter" and see if the phone shows up. It should show up as a device, and when double clicked, show two storage components. If this is the case, the phone will also access storage on device and allow you to use the storage.

Once on MTP, you cannot use the phone because you cannot get to the homescreen without exiting that. For me, its just for Kies and not much other benefits. If I wanted to access the harddisk, USB connect seems to be a much better option.

If only wants it for charging, then by all means go to the MTP screen and press the home button to get access to the phone.
