Charge vs Thunderbolt

Just test drove the Charge and Thunderbolt at Verizon to compare.

My 14 days is coming up to exchange my iPhone (Too small and too slow).

I noticed the speed was very close (4G) but noticed the Thunderbolt had a much louder earpice volume but Charge had better sound quality.

The screen on Charge seemed too dark even at the highest brightness.

Can anyone provide their thoughts.

I have to make decision or wait for Bionic or GS2 (but for how long)

Thx,

Bob

Too dark of a screen on the charge..that does make much sense..the charges display and brightness blows the Thunderbolt out of the water..in ever spec department.

I would go with the charge..I love mine..but thats just my opinion

It's not too dark, it's because black is true black, perhaps that makes it look darker.

I've had TB before Charge, I chose Charge in the end.

Rumored date for GS2 is next month, you could wait if you want to, it's worth the wait.

I may wait

Both the Charge and Thunderbolt on my account. IMO -TB performs better and the Charge looks better. The TB has a slight advantage with speed on 4G. But since 4G is fast already it's a non-issue. Call clarity is equal. Overall they are both great phones.

Played with both, ended up sticking with the Charge. That being said if you can hold out i would wait for the GS2. Not saying the TB/Charge are bad but the GS2 is a beast and if you have an upgrade discount i would use it on that for sure. That being said if you must have a new phone right now i would go Charge.

The TB is a great phone but it's also the red headed stepchild of the HTC lineup. Sadly the Thunderbolt has been plagued with various issues that i am sure you have seen on many forums. It also looks like it won't see any real love anytime soon. HTC already announced the push back of GB for the TB yet again (was supposed to come out in June, then early July and now no ETA). Meanwhile the Charge is looking to be receiving GB within a month if all goes well and it came out after the TB.

Another warning indicator is that Verizon seems to be trying to dump the phone as quickly as possible. $99 bucks gets you one brand new on contract.

So anyway wait for the GS2 if you can but if you can't (and even though i do love HTC) i would stay as far away from the TB as possible. The Charge has less hardware power but the phone just works far better and with fewer issues than the Thunderbolt (imo).

I had the TB since launch day. Had enough issues in the 3 months I owned it to request a Charge as a replacement. I've had the charge for about 3 weeks and I'm loving it. No issues. Everything functions as it should and the battery life is great for me.

SG2 might be a great phone but until it lands on Verizon the best working 4g phone in my opinion is the Charge.

Thanks for all of the information

I have an additional flip phone on our account
I can use if I decide to wait

Just wish we had a firm release date

Bob

Charge >>>>>>>>>>>> tbolt IMO. I had aa nightmare experience with tbolt and will probably never buy HTC again. It should, by no means, take 3 months to fix a reboot issue! That's just pitiful.

Screen looks dark for now because you're so use to the iphone 4, but you will definitely get used to it. Though on the other hand, color wise, since the charge displays colors so vibrantly, it makes the iphone screen look almost hazy or faded. But definitely a trade off. When I browse on the iphone then switch to the charge, it really does look dim, like a couple bulbs went out on a chandelier. But it's not something you'll probably linger over for too long.

How is the earpiece volume? When I was comparing in store the TB had a much louder volume. I ask because my iPhone volume is not as loud as my previous Evo?

Thanks!

I returned the iPhone and have decided to hold off and wait for either the Galaxy S 2 or Bionic.

Just hope the wait is not too long?

Also let's hope Verizon doesn't dump unlimited data before then. All the threats of killing it are the only reason I bought my Charge when I did. Otherwise I'd have waited til September when My trade in was due. There could definitely be a better phone out before then.

Also I love 4gLTE. Man is it fast. I can download a song in less than 2 seconds. It's a little faster than my Comcast Cable Internet.

I am so close to just getting the Charge as I cannot deal with my current flip phone.

I hope they announce something soon!

I researched these 2 and went with the Charge. So far, I'm VERY happy with this phone. I'd probably recommend waiting for the S2 (waiting wasn't an option for me), just because it will also have the SAMOLED screen, which is, IMO, the beautiful screen I've ever seen.

They charge has the same screen.
Edit: just saw "also" in there, my apologies.

Also, no one really knows if the sgsII is going to have 4G. If it does, it will be gods gift to phones, if not (and for some reason I don't think it will) its just another dual core phone.

The only reason I want the Tbolt over the Charge is the 768MB of ram the Tbolt has.

On my Charge my home launcher keeps getting kicked out of memory if I use the browser, so I gotta wait for it to launch again.

Is ram something that can be messed with with root? Kind of like overclocking.

I could be wrong but i don't think so. Isn't it kind of like how a memory card is 32GB but you can't make a 32GB car have more memory than it comes with?

LOL idk..ha im confusing myself.

But i don't think you can use root to get more RAM. I'll let the tech guys agree or shoot me down :)

I went from a TB to a Charge and haven't looked back. Even stock, I liked the Charge much more than the TB. Yeah, it wasn't as quick or loaded with as much RAM, but it just functioned better.

Now, rooted with Voodoo Lagfix and GummyCharged rom, it's not even close. With these things, the Charge mops the floor with the TB.

This is all my opinion of course.
