Charger Amperage

Hey there,

My first post on this site - Yay! (not considering the introduction one so i can post the links i wanted)

Call me crazy but there are contradictions regarding the required charging amperage. i know that the Nexus 4 comes with a travel adapter that outputs 1.2A and it even says so here
but on the other hand on the Nexus 4 official manual (page 5 under "Charge the battery) they say the travel adapter outputs 2A.

Now there are 2 options:
1. the official manual has an error (as i know it comes with 1.2A charger).
2. the device can input up to 2A max and they just supply you with a good enough 1.2A charger.

Anyone has an idea?

I think this 2A is a "slip of the pen"

As far as I know, only tablets need chargers with 2A or more amperage.

No, the charging controller of the phone determines the charging amperage.
So the charger should have enough amperage for to supply.

As Harry says, the phone limits the amount of amperage needed. But in case you plug a smaller charger (less than 1.6A), your phone will take longer to charge.
