All of a suddend the little plug-in piece that the USB plugs into for charging has stopped working. It stays in a surge protector next to my couch, Ive had the phone since April 9th, and it stopped working on Monday the 16th of May. Would AT&T replace it? Am I SOL, and have to purchase a new one?

It's ok just confused me I actually went and looked at a calendar like maybe I missed something.

Have you tried another charger? If you don't have another to try maybe take the phone to the nearest store and test one of their chargers

The USB still works. I even tried a different USB with it, nothing.

So its just not charging but a computer still recognizes it when plugged in?

I think if you call ATT they will replace the phone with a refurb since its past the 30 days but I'm not sure if you go to a corporate store if they could work something else out

Ive done the troubleshooting and its just the little plug in piece.

If the phone enters charging mode when the cable connected to a computer,
then your cable and phone are likely OKAY.

In my case, I have a phone, a cable, and a wall-wart.

  • The wart connects to the AC mains and presents a USB-A female connector.
  • The cable has a USB-A male and plugs to the wart. The other end
    plugs to my inspire phone

The AC-to-USB wart can be had from all sorts of vendors and makers.
The free-with-phone cable is very inexpensive. Mine seldom hold up under
routine use. I'd strongly recommend a high-end data+power cable.
For power only, iGO(tm) has an AC-USB wart & cable & tip for most phones including the Inspire(tm).

Good luck,
