Help Charging current question

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
Why is it when I use an app (OPO Charging Current in this case) to monitor charge current, the current varies wildly from second to second from say 5mA to 900mA?
Any ideas peeps?
Is it services using power in the background or what?
Cheers

(brand new cable that I actually tested before buying and even in the shop it varied wildly but I was just happy with its max output (1.xA)

No idea but I would maybe guess that you are right about it using power in the background. Sorry I'm not much help
brother you're always a help
Check out "Ampere"

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.ampere

If that agrees, try another cable.
Well Ampere seems a lot more consistent and 6xx is more than enough to keep my phone alive (unless I have the AF app open while tethering, sorry devs) .
So next time I go to a phone shop with my charging block and an app running asking to test their cables I'll have Ampere running I think.
This phone should be sucking in at least an Amp and I'm using a 2A charging block..
Cheers boys :) View attachment 91062

Yeah I know its limited by the kernel mate so I'd say 6xx is fine while I'm using my hotspot.
Noticed last night though my battery was running down while plugged in, wifi tethering and using our app, soon as I killed the app the charge started increasing.
Sorry bout the rant. I should really get into tapatalk or just use the browser and uninstall this app.
Honestly I can use g+ and AF (much more data transferred via g+) and the AF app is at least double in battery stats/Gsam.
It's a shame because I like using a dedicated app but I see no signs of it being worked on..
Anyway enough OT and Cheers for the app suggestion brer :thumbsupdroid:

Umm.. I think the voltage is purposely intermittent to charge your batteries because a constant voltage would usually cause them to explode.. I'm pretty sure that was the case..

Yeah bro but voltage is constant. It's the current (Amps) I'm on about :thumbsupdroid:

Lmfao! Oops, you got me, but I think the power is pulsing on purpose as design of charging li-ion batteries, specifically.

Have you tried other chargers with same battery/charge monitor apps?
Yeah bro. Ampere seems more consistent but I'm not sure if its just because it's updating less frequently or what
In the market for the best real time current monitor app for when I go shopping for a new cable :thumbsupdroid:

OK, so whether you meant to or not, you want to vote on this.

You can get 3 crappy apps that all act like your first one.

And then believe that they're right and Ampere is too slow.

I think that voting on electricity is not a good idea but you do as you think best. :)
