Help Charging issue - Is this normal?

OK. I bought the M yesterday and here's a question for users with experience....

With my old HTC Incredible I needed to put the phone into hybernation mode (Power Off) otherwise if I left the phone on, the DINC would somestimes start restarting over and over again and each time it would restart it would loudly announce "DROID!". Very irritating at 2 AM when it always seemed to restart.

Well by habit I powered off the M last night before putting it on the charger and as soon as I plugged in the cable it powered back on. I tried powering the device off again but it would immediately restart. Seems like my M needs to be on instead of powered down when on the charger. Can someone tell me if this is normal?

It didn't fully power on. It turns on to a battery screen to show the phone is charging. Then the screen turns back on.

You can leave the phone and charge it, it won't make any droid noises when charged.

Just leave it on and plug it in.

God!! I hated the perpetual restart loop....
