Help Charging problem

Hey everyone! I have a question regarding charging.
I have the Motorola Droid (the first one for Verizon), and I've had it for a little over a year now. Yesterday it started having trouble recognizing that there was a charger plugged into it (as in the light on the side wasn't on when I plugged it in, and it wouldn't register that it was charging). I have to finesse it and manhandle it to get it to sit at the right angle for it to charge now. Once I get it working properly, however, it charges fully (as long as I don't move anything or touch anything).

Has anyone else had this problem with this phone? I know it's not the charger because it happens with two different USB cords and it also happens regardless of whether or not it is plugged into my computer or an outlet.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions? I've considered getting something like the Duracell MyGrid cordless charging mat and the accessory for it that goes with my phone, but would that even work if my phone is the problem?

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read and help, I appreciate it!

Sounds like it's just a bad connection on the micro USB port on the phone. I would get a flash light and look at the metal contacts in the port and also on the contacts on the male charger connector on the chargers just to be sure. It's probably just a little corrosion build up on one end or the other. Try to see if you can get a little embry cloth in there to clean it off or something else to scrape the concacts clean. I've had to do this to one of my chargers before, but never had to do it on my phone before.

This is true, happened on my charger as well, sometimes the contacts get a little corrosion on them and won't work.

Thanks for your replies! As it turns out I managed to bed one of the prongs in the port on my phone. I had to go in and get a new phone, so I now have the Motorola Droid 2. Thankfully I had an upgrade.
