Help Charging problem

It seems as though over the past couple of months my TB has developed a charging problem. I searched and read some threads, but i didn't find a straight answer.

No matter what charger I use, as the battery level increases, the current decreases and eventually the battery stalls and does not make it to 100%. Sometimes 80% sometimes 90%. Last night, it stalled at 80% and I unplugged it. I went to a different location and plugged it back in with a different charger and it was instantly 100%.

I am not rooted and I don't plan to be. I use battery monitor widget to see the stats.

Is there something I can do beyond exchanging the phone? This is my original and I'm attached to it since it has been good to me....
 
It sounds like it is a reporting error by the OS. I believe someone who was rooted had the same issue a few months back and he was able to get a refirb due to it.
 
I've found that the amount of current decreasing as the battery reaches full charge is normal. It makes sense too since the phone lets the battery charge as fast as possible and then tapers off to let it top off.

However, the battery percentage stalling and not reaching 100% is strange.

Try charging and when it stalls you should do a reboot and charge again. I tend to reboot when charging to get an accurate percentage.

I appreciate your response and helping with troubleshooting. I did try your idea, but it didn't work. I'm wondering if my batteries have lost some of their capacity and are the issue. Any thoughts on that?
 
I would suggest taking the battery to VZW and exchanging it. You should be under warranty and as long as the battery has not been exposed to any liquids you should have no problem exchanging it. Let us know what happens.
 
I am going to try charging the phone with it turned off to see if that makes any difference, and if not I guess the next step is battery exchange like you suggested.
 
No matter how I tried, my TB just won't charge correctly anymore. I can charge a battery in my external charger and it shows fully charged when I boot up, but can't get a full charge in the phone. So, batteries appear to be ok.

After talking to a rep I know, we decided to replace the phone and he sent one. All appeared good initially as battery charged to full and everything worked.

The honeymoon ended very quickly however when the phone shut itself off for no reason and I had to pull the battery to get it to boot. I thought for a minute I had my wife's Bionic, but no. This happened 2 more times in as many hours, so I was back on the phone and another replacement is on the way... I'm really not in the mood to play musical phones...
 
I waited a couple extra days for the second refurb because of the Christmas holiday, but this one is working well. Battery life is very good and everything appears to work so I'm back in business.
